Our Story
In the summer of 2011, Jenna had a vision of a pet supply store that would not only provide goods for the companion animal, but would enhance the relationship between pets and their people. With that, she embarked on the long road to transform an old residential home and a dream into Patton Avenue Pet Company. In December of 2011, the West Asheville location opened for business, providing a retail and learning center for the pet community to enjoy for years to come.
Asheville embraced this “new breed” of pet supply store, and Patton Avenue Pet Company gained a loyal following. Within a few years, the West Asheville store had reached its capacity, and expansion became necessary for the business to keep growing! The universe answered in the form of a spacious and centrally-located building in Downtown Asheville. The outside had been painted decades earlier with murals of dogs and cats, making this new location feel like home before PAPCo even moved in! The Downtown location opened for business in June of 2014, providing a welcome and needed addition to downtown Asheville.
After years of customer requests for a location on the south side of town, Jenna found a perfect third location- for the first time, not on Patton Avenue, but on Hendersonville Road. The South Asheville store brought Patton Avenue Pet Company’s pet nutrition expertise and passion for companion animals to an all new community in Spring 2016.
In late 2017, construction began on a new home for our West Asheville store… on the same property! The new space is over 3 times as large as the previous space and brings tons of new products and opportunities to the West side! Just before the COVID-19 pandemic, our expansion at our South Asheville location was completed, which included two self-service dog wash tubs!
In 2023, we opened a smaller location with a new concept called Bath + Bones- with 4 dog wash tubs and a curated selection of food and supplies for dogs.

ABOUT Us
Owner and head dog-butt-scratcher, Jenna Yarosh Wilson, has been working with companion animals for over 20 years. In fact, her first job ever was at the local pet supply store in her hometown. Since then, she also held positions at a doggie daycare, a dog grooming salon, a kennel, and an animal shelter, giving her a well-rounded background working in the companion animal field. Her love of animals led her to receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont, with a concentration in Companion Animal Nutrition. She was inspired to open Patton Avenue Pet Company after seeing the effects that a healthy, biologically-appropriate diet and a natural lifestyle had on her epileptic dog, Dupree. She began feeding him a balanced raw diet and saw his seizures decrease and his overall health improve! She has lived in Asheville for over a decade, happily residing with her husband and co-owner Billy Wilson and their four adopted dogs- Penelope (a Terrier mix), Neville Longbottom (a Terrier mix), Sweetie Pie (a dachshund mix) and Katie (a pit bull), their dog-like cat Tobias, and Red-Foot Tortoise, Jerry.
